Bright Futures
The Florida Bright Futures Scholarship Progam establishes four lottery-funded scholarships to reward Florida high school graduates for high academic achievement:  

1.  Florida Academic Scholars (FAS)
2.  Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS)
3.  Florida Gold Seal CAPE Scholars (GSC)
4.  Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars (GSV)

To be eligible, students must:

1.  Meet specific cousework, grade point average, and test score requirements, which are outlined on the Office of  Student Financial Assistance (OSFA) website.

2.  Create a student account, then submit a fully completed error free Initial Student Florida Financial Aid Application  (FFAA) during the last year in high school (prior to graduation).

First Time Applicants

3.  Submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  The FAFSA does not have to indicate financial need; however, must be complete and error free prior to a student's first disbursement of the academic year.

Community Service
While community service is not required for graduation, hours are required for many local and state scholarships.  
Hours must be recorded on the student's high school transcript by completing the following form and submitting it to guidance.

The PERT Test will be offered at DCHS on the first Thursday of most months (see below).
To test, please add your name to the list located in the guidance office and report to the testing room (07-016) after 7th period dismissal on each test date.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT

AP Exams are rigorous, multiple-component tests that are administered at high schools each May.  Students can earn college credit, placement, or both for qualifying AP Exam scores.

Students may register for the ACT and/or SAT online using the links below.  Students that qualify for free or reduced lunch are eligible to receive two fee waivers while in high school.  Visit the guidance office to get help with registration or request a fee waiver.

ASVAB

The ASVAB was developed by the US Department of Defense and designed to encourage students to increase their level of self-knowledge and to understand how that information could be linked to occupational characteristics.  Seniors at DCHS have to opportunity to participate in the ASVAB Career Exploration Program.

The ASVAB has been designed to help ALL students:
*students that enter the workforce immediately upon graduation
*students that attend a university or community college
*students that attend a technical / vocational program
*students that enter the military

PSAT

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is a multiple choice standardized test administered in October by the College Board and National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States.

An estimated 1.3 million high school sophomores and juniors take the test each year.  Scores from the PSAT are used to determine eligibility and qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program (11th graders only).
